Eating Disorders & Trauma
INNOVATIVE METHODS FOR RAPID RECOVERY
Co-Presented by Dara Bushman, PsyD & Wayne Brown, MSW, LCSW, CAP, ICADC
5 CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS
Rapid Resolution Therapy is an innovative, respectful and integrative process that is a celebration of resiliency and is resource directed. With this process, you’ll feel energized when your clients report relief and clarity. With RRT, you’ll learn methods that create healing experiences that cause automatic ease as well as relief from guilt and shame often associated with eating disorders and traumas.
In this training, you will learn methods to deactivate the “flight or fight” response of trauma causing problematic thinking that leads to maladaptive eating patterns and behaviors. You will explore the current trends in neuroscience regarding the mind and body impact of trauma and creatively utilize memory reconsolidation to resolve trauma per the A.C.E. studies. This strenth-based approach will allow you to construct the reintegration of the healing process into everyday behaviors that lead to a life of purpose and peace.
In this training, you will learn how to:
Discuss the neurobiology of trauma and how it impacts the body.
Identify emotional triggers and how they cause the individual to relive the trauma.
Apply gentle experiential methods to integrate the psychological and physiological effects of trauma.
Examine and resolve secondary effects of trauma such as binging, purging, restricting, and over-exercising.
Utilize integration of traumatic memory through memory reconsolidation.
Assess and evaluate the necessity of adverse life events needing resolution per the A.C.E. studies.
