PTSD, SEXUAL TRAUMA
& CHILDHOOD ABUSE
INNOVATIVE METHODS FOR RAPID RECOVERY
Presented by Michael Cortina, MSW, LCSW, LCAC, CRRT
5 CONTINUING EDUCATION CONTACT HOURS
A TRANSFORMATIONAL TRAINING THAT SHIFTS THE WAY MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS THINK AND COMMUNICATE WITH CLIENTS.
Imagine sitting with a client who had been experiencing an emotional and physical reaction to trauma and being able to address it in the moment with confidence while directly causing a positive impact on your client.
Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) provides a trauma-informed method that is supported by neuroscience and evidence-based techniques. This innovative approach targets the limbic brain where emotional responses are activated, forming new neural pathways to provide positive change and healing. RRT is a gently, respectful, active and integrative approach that works without subjecting individuals to needless pain and possible re-traumatization.
Being trauma-informed is critical for mental health professionals, as most clients have experienced some form of trauma. Whether having met with that individual once or many times, integrating RRT techniques results in emotional freedom and the ability to move ahead much more quickly and effectively. The RRT process restructures neural pathways so that traumatic events are no longer emotionally triggered.
This beginning level training will include live lecture, filmed demonstrations and presentations which enable you to understand the process and see the results.
Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:
Identify four different types of traditional trauma treatments.
Describe additional complications and considerations involved in the treatment of PTSD, sexual trauma and childhood abuse.
Discuss the neurobiology on how emotions are triggered and how traumatic memory can be resolved.
List three possible emotional reactions of psychotherapists dealing with trauma
Apply methods to avoid vicarious traumatization.
