When Children Can't Explain What They're Experiencing

Children and adolescents often communicate distress through behavior, emotion, physical responses, or changes in relationships rather than through clear descriptions of what has happened.

Some young people can identify a specific event that continues to affect them. Others cannot. Their responses may reflect earlier developmental experiences, involuntary nervous system activity, learned beliefs, or reactions that occur largely outside conscious awareness.

This continuing education program explores these presentations through the Rapid Resolution Therapy® (RRT) perspective. Participants will examine concepts related to trauma, anxiety, perceived threat, autonomic nervous system functioning, and developmentally responsive communication while observing how these principles are applied within the RRT framework.

Throughout four live sessions, participants will engage in lecture, filmed demonstrations, guided discussion, experiential learning, and breakout practice designed to support clinical understanding and professional skill development.

What You Will Experience

  • Clear, clinically grounded teaching that keeps concepts precise, practical, and applicable

  • Stop-and-go video demonstrations of real sessions, paused at key moments to highlight what changed and why

  • Step-by-step explanation of practitioner language, timing, and decision-making

  • Guided observation to help you track shifts in internal processing as they occur

  • Opportunities for discussion to deepen understanding through shared clinical insight

What Makes This Training Different?

This training focuses on how anger and resentment stop being generated—not how they are managed, suppressed, or expressed.

Participants will view filmed clinical demonstrations showing how shifts in internal processing change emotional intensity, physiological activation, and behavioral impulse. Recordings are paused throughout to explain how specific practitioner communication and timing influence these shifts and lead to resolution.

The emphasis is on understanding how meaning, perception, and action-signaling drive emotional responses—and how precise changes in these processes produce durable results.

This is a live, interactive, and immersive training—designed to keep your mind actively engaged in recognizing change as it happens, rather than passively absorbing information.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain how anger and resentment are generated by action-oriented internal processing.

  2. Describe how perception, meaning, and impulse interact in the production of anger.

  3. Identify internal conditions that sustain resentment after the triggering event has passed.

  4. Differentiate resolved anger responses from ongoing action-generation during clinical demonstrations.

  5. Distinguish communication approaches that interrupt anger generation from those that reinforce it.
